10 days til 10k

Well its nearly here, and I cannot wait for it to be over! Despite it being really good exercise and all that jazz it has made my legs way too muscley for my liking. I have somehow managed to get up to 8k now and im hoping that adrenalin on the day will get me over the line.

If anyone would like to sponsor me, please visit Helens page
www.justgiving.com/robynsmum We will be running the day before the 2nd anniversary of Robyn's death so very fitting. Thanks to Matt, Lorna, Natasha and Dolly who have already sponsored me. Helen sends a massive thank you to you all too! Wish me luck!

Stylish action in the city

This weekend I have loads of plans. First up Friday night celebrations with my sister Caroline and her fiance, Matt and I are taking them to Malmaison for dinner and a few cocktails and maybe a session of guitar hero back at home after.

Saturday morning we are up early for the boys to play golf and Caroline and I are heading to the Style in the City event in Birmingham. We are booked in for the morning catwalk show and afternoon Styling session. All of the major department stores are taking part - Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, House of Fraser etc and theres lots of styling and beauty advice going on too. There was a great Christopher Kane goody bag last year and im hoping this years is as good, I'll take my camera!

Saturday evening is mum's partners birthday party, he has a championship size boules court hidden away in his garden and the competition is on. I think there may be a french theme to the evening but this may have changed.

Sunday morning we are taking off up to Nottingham for a quick nosy at Carolines new house then we are off to the cricket at Trent bridge. I have no massive interest in cricket and unless its sunny I shall probably get a little bored. My last game was on a beautiful day at a West Indian club and got slightly tipsy on their home-rum - so tipsy I started cheerleading which just wasn't the done thing...

After the cricket the four of us plus dad are off into Nottingham for dinner and celebrations again. Lots of outfits to plan for, I think the dinner outfit will be the one above.

Development flutter mini dress which I should wear more often.
Topshop amy boots
Christopher Kane leather box bag
Orange nail polish

And either my gold lurex long cardigan or black crop sleeve tux jacket with my huge pale yellow amber cocktail ring similar to the three items in the picture.

Time flies

So its Tuesday again already. I had a really great weekend which started off with chinese food, Strictly come dancing which I love and then seeing if Derren Brown could stick me to my chair, which he didn't but I did get weird pins and needles and cold spots in certain places and felt very heavy and sleepy!

I then had a very late call from my sister who rang to tell me she got engaged! I'm mega happy for her and shocked in a good way, it was such great news.

The rest of the weekend was spent chilling with Matt, asking him when my ring finger was going to be decorated.... ( not anytime soon....) food, tv, and a stack of magazines. I knew there was a reason I stopped buying magazines and that was to cut back on my spending. My wishlist grew almost double I think this weekend thanks to Elle and the super-sized Sunday Time Style mag.

This weeks plans are:

  • To put alot of clothes into storage in the loft until I can find a clothes fair to sell them at. If I car boot I'm not sure I'd get anything more than a few pennies and ebay is just way too much hassle so this may be my best option. Does anyone know of any clothes fairs or something similar that I could look at? I'm midlands based but willing to travel down to London.
  • Get out for at least a couple of runs.
  • Paint my nails with my new autumn orange polish.
  • Complete a couple of mystery shops.
  • Pick out a birthday present for my sister.
  • Dye my hair with a home colour kit for the first time - eek!
  • Finalise my weekend plans - busy busy busy but loads of fun!
  • Charge my camera so I can start taking some pictures for this blog.
Lots to be getting on with. The three Christopher Kane bags I ordered arrived and I'm in LOVE with the leather fringed box bag. It's gorgeous, it has a long pewter chain strap, frame and clasp and lovely soft leather all over. The eyelets don't look cheap which I thought may be the case and the fringing is great. Best thing about it - It fits so much in whilst still being a perfect evening bag, my phone, money, make-up and camera all sit perfectly in it. I'll take pictures tonight.

Perfect plaits

NYC fashion week is over and London is about to start but I'm not someone who studies the shows in huge detail. Yes some of the clothes are amazing but until the styles have filtered down to the high street I can't really pick the trends I love. Its good to know the overall themes that will be hitting the shops next spring but for me I want to wait til March/April time to think about them. Is anyone else like this?!

I do however enjoy the accessories, shoes, make-up and extra details such as these plaits or braids seen on the Alexander Wang runway. The perfect hairstyle, loose, tied back but still showing off some length. I'm planning on breaking out the braid soon!

Christopher Kane for Topshop - Eyelet overload

Photobucket

The new Christopher Kane for Topshop range launches tomorrow so set your alarms if you are planning on buying anything. There are eyelets in abundance from head to toe on dresses, leggings, shoes, bags and jackets.

I'm betting the platform mesh and eyelet shoes are a fast seller £125.
This beautiful dress navy should stand the test of time with its embellished cups, a classic. £125

I'm going to avoid the clothing though as I want to snap up one of these bags, probably the eyelet pouch or box bag with its fringing both would get maximum use! Both £65. Maxi bag £100.

View the whole range here: Topshop I'm thinking this might be a fast selling collection - expect ebay to be overloaded....

Dark night

My wishing the winter forwards means party time and spangly dresses will soon be appearing in the stores and the festive frock spreads in the magazines. Thinking ahead im going to stick to sequin leggings I think which will get alot more use than a shimmering frock.

I need to find the bargainous H&M ones pictured and hope that the sizing isn't too large as reported. How nice is the Topshop lace blazer too and not too OTT with the lame vest and sequins. The Nicholas Kirkwood heels make me dizzy, they are beautiful.

Asos are doing free delivery for anyone ordering their own ASOS shoes between 2pm and 6pm today only. Best new ever is that they are finally doing free returns!

Enter IHEARTSHOES at the checkout.

Here are a few suede pairs that get my vote

Red leather and suede T-Bar heels will look fabulous with opaques come winter. I love that the toe has been caged in too. A hot pair of dancing shoes! £50

Black suede toe detail pumps, one pair with chain and tassle detail £28 the other Luxe bow detail £25.

Grey suede Acorn ankle boot. I can't get over how brilliantly cheap these are, only £45 for a nice rounded toe, decent chunky and not too high heel and ruched suede. Perfect for almost any outfit.

Winter wool

Photobucket
Cardigan, leggings, tee, satchel, hat all Topshop, socks Toast, boots French Connection.

I've been broswing the winter boots that are lining the shelves and think I may have found a near perfect pair of riding boots but can't find a picture online.

I've just come across this little brown pair by French Connection too and I think I would get so much wear out of them. Im picturing them with a cute pair of knitted socks poking out in cream or grey layered over opaques or leggings. I like the fold down cuff too.

I dont think i've ever looked forward to winter before but this years 'summer' has completely bypassed me and I want it a couple of degrees cooler to start layering up. I love soft chunky wool in dresses, cardigans, gloves hats and scarves. Hurry up Jack Frost.

Perfect pea coat

Last night I spied a very cute looking pea coat in navy woven wool with bright shiny buttons. It looks as good undone as it does done up and it came home with me!

Its very similar to Alexa's here with full length sleeves. Random London Girl reminded me I was after a pair of riding boots which will look great with the coat so im hunting down a nice shiny vintage pair!

A little collage of a simple outfit topped off with a pea coat.
